Susanne Johnson, Ph.D.

Dr. Johnson believes that counseling can help people to make significant, positive changes in their lives. The therapy process allows individuals to develop a better understanding of their actions, thoughts, and feelings. This exploration allows individuals to make changes in their lives to improve in numerous areas. Each individual has a unique history and specific way of interacting with the world, and different approaches can be tailored to each person's set of needs. Dr. Johnson uses a variety of methods to make each client's experience both unique and productive. Sometimes just a few sessions can be very effective at targeting a specific area of concern (for example: improving self-esteem after some rough months at work) and other times, individuals choose to work for a longer period of time on more complex or difficult issues (such as ongoing relationship problems, unhealthy thought patterns, or disruptive and painfully intense emotions).

Using Insurance

Dr. Johnson is currently an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Aetna PPO, Magellan, and Medicare* plans. Although you may be insured, sometimes outpatient mental health benefits may not be covered. Please contact your insurance carrier by calling the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to find out what benefits are available to you. If you have insurance coverage for which Dr. Johnson is considered out-of-network, then you will be responsible for the full fee at time of service, however your insurance company may reimburse you if you submit a receipt to them. If your insurance company reimburses Dr. Johnson directly, in excess of the amount due, this will be refunded back to you. Each insurance plan is different for each person, so it is important for you to understand your financial responsibility with respect to your benefits. If, for any reason, your insurance company denies coverage for services rendered, you will be responsible for the full amount.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.
